So I went from the first gen iPhone, to a regular old “dumb phone,” then to the Android, and finally to Windows 7 (a Samsung Focus). I can tell you the news right now. Fantastic screen, great refresh and animations, and way more apps are available than I thought, but it’s still not a winner. It feels like the iPhone from 2007; a great product, but with a lot of room to grow, and lacking some basic functionality.
Android Evo vs iPhone 4
This is a bit of a follow up to my previous post on “Ditching the Smartphone” (first gen iPhone). Lets just say that little experiment didn’t turn out very well. If you’ve used a smartphone for any length of time, don’t even think of going back to that old school flip phone. It’s like going from broadband to dial-up.
Online TV Outside the US
If you’re outside the US and want to watch US television online, you’re out of luck. That is unless you know a few secrets, which I’ll introduce in this article.
@import is Evil
So I’m doing a bit of CSS coding and I randomly decide “today is going to be the day, I’m going to use the @import rule,” even though I rarely have had occasion to use it in the past. But I’ve noticed quite a few coders out there seem to use it for CSS resets, so I thought, hey, I’m going to do that, and further, I’m going to add it to my own personal CSS template. Bad idea.
GPS May be Lost

Ah GPS, it’s a technology we all take for granted. All you need is an address and bam, you’ve instantly got detailed directions to your destination. Personally, I find the English accented voice on my Nuvi system to be very relaxing and reassuring. “Please turn around.” Anything you say nice English lady. But that friendly voice may not be there for us in the near future. The GPS system is in danger of suffering blackouts any day now.
